Smart home Berlin

Ground-floor flats designed especially for seniors used to be available. Since virtually all new residential projects have elevators, the number of flats that physically challenged people can inhabit has increased dramatically; however, demand is also increasing. Accessibility is one of the important factors in deciding how long older people can live alone. Smart technologies that connect flats to the outside world provide further support. Technologiestiftung Berlin assumes that in the long term, the technologies and markets for smart home technology – components that primarily increase convenience or energy efficiency – and those for home technology relevant for healthcare – telemedicine systems and assistance systems such as home medical alarms – will become one.
